Authorites find missing father and son dead in Allegheny River

Two men who were reported missing on Monday afternoon, were found dead in the Allegheny River.

A woman called 911 dispatchers on Monday just before 4 p.m. to report her husband and son missing.

Stephen Sieminski, 62, and and his son Justin Sieminski, 30, of Natrona Heights, reportedly went fishing on the Allegheny River in Lower Burrell at about 9:30 p.m. on Sunday night, according to WTAE.

Their red Chevy Blazer was discovered on Lowe Road containing fishing rods and a cellphone.

Lower Burrell’s police Chief Timothy Weitzel told WTAE that the men’s fishing gear was discovered on the shore, about a quarter mile away from their vehicle.

Local fire departments, a helicopter, and water rescue teams were called to the scene and bloodhounds followed the Sieminski men’s scent to the edge of the water.

Two boats from Pioneer and Eureka fire departments found the men Tuesday morning, less than a half mile from where original underwater searches began Monday night.

The cause of death has not yet been determined and KDKA-TV reports that Lower Burrell Police Department, Westmoreland County detectives, and the coroner’s office are leading the investigation.
