A teenage boy drowns in a Butler County pond reports WTAE. He was at the pond for a family picnic.
The boy has been identified as 14-year-old Carrick boy Destin Badeau.
After Badeau was reported missing at 9 pm Saturday, West Sunbury and Unionville fire departments, along with, the county’s dive team were dispatched.
CPR was performed when crews found the boy floating. Despite being found with a life jacket on, emergency measures were unsuccessful.
George Badeau, the victim’s father, spoke about his son.
“I’m just hurt. I wish he was here.”
George Badeau continued.
“I love my son,” George Badeau said, “I love my son so very much. I love him so much, and now he’s watching over us from up top.”
Family members hope Destin Badeau’s death can be used as a warning to families and kids to be careful swimming in the summer months.
