St. Louis comes to Pittsburgh and ruins the Pirates holiday. The Cardinals crush the Pirates 12-6 in the first game of a 3 game series at PNC Park.
Cardinals ace Adam Wainwright didn’t pitch his best game, but his bat helped him earn the win. Despite allowing 4 runs in only 5 innings on the mound, Wainwright went 2 for 3 with 3 RBI, including smacking an RBI double in the second.
Matt Adams and WVU product Jedd Gyorko hit home runs for St. Louis. Andrew McCutchen and Adam Frazier homered for Pittsburgh.
