Community pays respects for Duquesne officer killed in crash

Hundreds gathered from Duquesne and several surrounding towns paid their respects Officer Robert Gogo Jr., 40, who was laid to rest Thursday morning.

Gogo was killed in a traffic accident Saturday night.  Investigators said he  crossed the center line on Richland Avenue in Dravosburg on his motorcycle and collided with a sedan.  He was off-duty at the time of the crash.

KDKA reports that people who knew Gogo could not say enough good things about him and all of the pomp and circumstance at his funeral was in his honor.

“He was so funny, always laughing and joking and giving you a hard time. He was a great guy,” said Connie Rosenbayger.

According to KDKA, every pew in Christ the Light of the World Catholic Church was filled.  Many police officers, firefighters and other emergency crew stood.

Gogo leaves behind his 8-year-old son, Robert, and the boy’s mother.

Several fundraisers for the family are planned, including one at the Duquesne Police Department and The Pittsburgh Tour Company.
