Crews battle apartment fire in Duquesne

Crew are working to contain a fire at an apartment building in Duquesne.

The fire broke out at the Hilltop Parkview apartments in the 2300 block of Duquesne Place Drive around 10:30 a.m., reports WPXI.

Residents told WPXI everyone inside the building was safely evacuated.

“I happened to look outside to see how hot it was and when I looked out, I saw the fire,” one man said.

Firefighters reportedly had trouble with the hydrants inside the complex, and were forced to use hydrants outside the fence. According to residents, the fire alarms inside the building were not working.

The building is considered a total loss.  The cause of the fire is under investigation.
