Kris Bryant flashes some leather and hits a home run to lead the Cubs to victory, completing the sweep of the Pirates.
Despite a late rally effort, Pittsburgh lost to Chicago 6-5 at Wrigley Field. The Pirates scored 1 in the 7th, 2 in the 8th, and 1 run in the 9th, yet still couldn’t avoid their third straight loss to the major league best Cubs.

Jordy Mercer stood out for the Pirates. Mercer went 2 for 5 with 1 run scored and 2 RBI, including a clutch 2 run double in the 8th inning.
Ryan Vogelsong was the losing pitcher, allowing 5 eared runs through 5 innings and walking 3. Jason Hammel, who allowed 1 run on only 3 hits through 6 innings with 6 strikeouts, got the win for the Cubs. Chicago now has back to back games over Pittsburgh where the starting pitcher earned the win.

After the series, the Pirates sit 2.5 games back in the National League Wild Card race and 17.5 games behind the Cubs in the National League Central.
Pittsburgh gets today off and then returns home to host the Milwaukee Brewers Friday night. First pitch from PNC Park is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
