Foul odor diverts flight from Orlando to Latrobe

A Spirit Airlines flight from Orlando to Latrobe was diverted back to the airport and at least six people were taken to the hospital because of a bad smell on a flight

A spokesperson with the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority said the flight left for Arnold Palmer Airport around 4 p.m.  Smoke was reported in a cabin shortly after take off.

Spirit Airlines told WPXI there wasn’t any smoke, but a bad smell was determined to be coming from the air conditioning.

The airline offered to call EMS for anyone who wanted medical attention.  Two passengers and 4 crew members were reportedly taken to the hospital out of an abundance of caution.

According to WPXI, another crew is being flown to Orlando to take over and fly the rest of the passengers to Latrobe.

It’s not known when the flight will take off.
