Group holds silent protest in downtown Pittsburgh

A group of people wearing all black gathered in downtown Pittsburgh for a silent protest Tuesday.

The protest took place at 12 p.m. in the middle of Market Square on Tuesday.

A Facebook post by Ayodeji Young made last week promoted the idea of a silent protest, and was met with large amounts of support in the comments.

“We will stand in silence and let them stare at us and think whatever they want… As the time ticks away everyone will leave when their lunch break is over whatever time that may be… Just turn, walk away and go back to your jobs,” the Facebook post said. “Don’t explain to anyone what it was about or why we did it.. If they don’t know then that’s their fault.”

The post was shared 373 times over social media.
