An Allegheny County jury acquitted a man Tuesday afternoon accused of shooting his cab driver. Anthony Mohamed, 27, of Hazelwood was on trial for attempted homicide, aggravated assault and reckless endangerment.
Prosecutors say he shot driver Hakim Ghorbal early Thanksgiving morning. The jury deliberated for four hours after hearing testimony and reviewing video of the cab ride that captured the shooting.
According to the Pittsburgh Tribune Review, Defense Attorney Patrick Sweeney said in his closing argument, “He (the victim) didn’t recognize Anthony Mohamed, but he should have, because he was in the cab with him for 15 minutes.” Sweeney also noted that police did not find any matching DNA, fingerprints or weapon used in the crime.
