Man arrested after allegedly assaulting girlfriend and her son

Police arrested a Westmoreland County man after he allegedly assaulted his girl and her son Tuesday night.

Police said they were called to a home in the 1500 block of Darlington Road in Ligonier around 6 p.m.

A woman told police her boyfriend, Eric Painter, allegedly threw her to the ground while she was trying to move out of the home.

She claimed Painter sat on her and began to hit her and pull her hair.

The victim was able to get inside her car, where her son was waiting.  Painter reportedly grabbed the boy from the car by the neck and threw him to the ground.

The woman was allegedly bitten on the arm in the process of getting Painter off of her son.

Police said officers knocked on the door of the home to speak with Painter.  He allegedly swore at the officers and threatened them through the door.

Officers forced their way into the home and Painter was seen standing in the entry way with a baseball bat.

Painter was taken into custody after he was  tackled to the ground
