A man who allegedly stabbed his brother with scissors and threatened to kill his niece, has been arrested.
The incident occurred Sunday morning around 2 a.m. on Trailer Boulevard in Lower Burrell.
Police responded to a report of a domestic dispute possibly involving a firearm, according to KDKA-TV.
Jonathan Jeffers told police that his brother, 26-year-old David Jeffers, had arrived at his home highly intoxicated and reportedly threw a mattress on top of his 6-year-old sleeping niece.
Jonathan also told authorities that he shoved David away from his daughter to protect her. Then, according to Jonathan, David became “enraged,” and punched him in the face, stabbed him in the neck with a pair of scissors, and threatened to kill his daughter.
David is also accused of throwing those scissors at Jonathan.
According to the police report, David Jeffers was in possession of a firearm at the time of the altercation, but told police that he did not threaten to use it on anyone.
Police arrested David Jeffers and transported him to the Westmoreland County Jail where he was booked on charges of endangering welfare of children/parent/guardian, aggravated assault, and simple assault.
