Man arrested in connection to shooting scare near IUP campus

A man was arrested Thursday after he was accused of firing shots near Indiana University of Pennsylvania’s campus.

According to police,  the man opened fire at the Westgate Terrace Apartments.

A spokeswoman for IUP told WPXI the apartment complex is not commonly used by students, but some may live there. No one was injured in the shooting.

The alleged shooter was located a Walmart near the university and taken into custody.

IUP’s official twitter account says the suspect is in custody. It does not appear any IUP students were involved in the shooting.

The shooting is under investigation.
