Pittsburgh, PA – Debris and smoke covered a Mt. Washington hillside earlier this morning.
Norfolk Southern Corporation crews blasted unstable rocks from Mount Washington near Highmark Stadium and Station Square to reveal more stable rock layers within the hillside, the Post-Gazette reports.Mt.
The loose rocks covering some of the railroad tracks above West Carson Street were caused by a landslide that happened last week.
Chief Operations Officer, Guy Costa, told WTAE, that West Carson Street to be closed between the Fort Pitt Bridge and Smithfield Street Bridge until at least Saturday morning.”
