One man dies after firefighters pull him from burning apartment

Firefighters were called to a residence that was on fire in West Oakland, to find two men unconscious in the building.

According to WPXI, the apartment on Terrace Street, in Pittsburgh’s West Oakland neighborhood caught fire. First responders were called to the scene at about 8 a.m. on Sunday, September 4, 2016.

Reportedly, firefighters discovered two men unconscious in the townhouse, and pulled them from the burning building. The men were transported to a local hospital.

WTAE reports that one of the men, 61-year-old Anthony Ford, later died on Sunday morning.  Cause and manner of death are pending an autopsy.

Reportedly the two victims are brothers.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this point, but investigators told WPXI, that the fire started on the first floor.

Arson investigators have been called to the scene.
