An elderly man who was hit by a vehicle after leaving a Pirates game earlier this month was pronounced dead at the hospital Thursday.
William Gallagher, 80, and a female were struck near the T station on West General Robinson Street, between Tony Dorsett Street and Mazeroski Way, around 11 p.m. on August 9.
According to a witness, both of the pedestrians were bleeding from the head after being hit by the car.
The victim’s son told police that the driver, Bryant Ellis, was driving at a high-rate of speed prior to the accident. KDKA reports that Ellis does not have a valid driver’s license.
Ellis told police that he was unable to stop because an oncoming vehicle obstructed his view. Witnesses were unable to verify his claim.
He was taken into custody and transported to the Allegheny County Jail.
