Pittsburgh to hold peace summit

There will be a peace summit in Pittsburgh to address fear and violence. The Mayor’s Office announced this summit will take place Tuesday.

This summit was called for last week by Mayor Bill Peduto. With the help of Allegheny County Executive Rich Fitzgerald, leaders from law enforcement, faith-based institutions, activist groups, foundations, labor, the corporate community and government banded together to make this happen.

While publicized, the initial summit will be private.

“We are all affected by the violence in our communities — whether it be here in Pittsburgh, in Dallas, or so many other cities — and we all must do everything we can to stop it. Pittsburgh is a strong and resilient place, and our bonds are even stronger when all of us in the city work together,” Peduto said in a press release on Friday.
