Police search for parking meter thieves in Greensburg

Police are searching for suspects behind the thefts of a dozen parking meters in Greensburg.

Officials say there’s $18,000 in parking meters missing.  The meters, however, only carry around $8 at the most.

“They took 12 of them, which is actually 24 heads. That’s a substantial amount of money,” said Capt. Robert Stafford, of Greensburg Police.

Stafford says the top of some meters were taken off and some were pulled out of the ground with cement going out with the pole.

Investigators are looking at video that seems to show multiple suspects and a gray van, reports KDKA.

“There was a lookout one and there was somebody at the van,” said Stafford.

The spaces are without meters, but parking will not be available in those spots.
