Police: stolen gun recovered after traffic stop and Taser

An East Hills man is facing charges after a traffic stop that ended with a foot chase and a Taser.  Pittsburgh Police tell us Zone 5 officers spotted a car running a red light around 10pm Sunday night.  That is when they started to pull over 22 year old Eric Triplett.

Officers say he pulled over into a parking lot in the 6900 block of Frankstown Avenue in Homewood, then started running.

During the foot-chase, police say Triplett tossed a handgun they later recovered and discovered was stolen.

Triplett was captured after being hit by an officer’s Taser.

He is now facing charges for “felony firearm violations, escape, and receiving stolen property”, according to a news release.
