Red Cross assists nearly 350 residents after flooding

The American Red Cross said Saturday it has provided assistance to nearly 350 flood victims in Connellsville residents since Monday.

A Red Cross damage assessment team identified 161 homes damaged by the flood water.  29 homes were considered destroyed and 45 have major damage.

The Red Cross said 122 assistance cases had been opened as of Friday, serving a total of 342 people.

Volunteers have distributed over 3,300 bulk items, including water, snacks, clean-up kits and other supplies.

A Red Cross service center will be located at the Connellsville Township Volunteer Fire Department on Fireman Street through Monday. It will move to Connellsville Area Community Ministries on West Crawford Avenue on Tuesday
