Recent drug overdoses around a spray park in Pittsburgh’s Troy Hill neighborhood has made residents tired of the activity in the area.
A man was found dead Friday morning inside a bathroom at the Troy Hill Spray Park. Police say another man, James Ewing, was arrested hours later on Goettman Street after he overdosed on heroin in car.
Councilwoman Darlene Harris told WPXI the city’s crime and drug problems are on the rise because of a critical shortage in the Pittsburgh Police Department. Harris said the department is down 100 officers.
The mayor’s office said the police department will soon be staffed at 900 officers, reports WPXI.
The spray park is open for only a few more days, but residents want to ensure it is clean and safe for the hundreds of children that use it.
