The Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has announced that he will pledge $1,000 per touchdown in 2016 toward his foundation, which supports K-9 dogs, reports ESPN.com.

The Ben Roethlisberger Foundation seeks to support police and fire departments throughout the U.S. with a particular emphasis on support for K-9 units and service dogs.

Roethlisberger has previously donated money for the purchase of K-9s from reputable breeders for bomb detection, drug detection and other police work.

According to ESPN, this is the first year Roethlisberger is publicly pledging the $1,000 per touchdown.
