Steelers open training camp

Are you ready for some football? Well, another Pittsburgh Steelers season is almost here! Before the NFL’s 2016 season begins, teams will prepare in training camps across the country. The Steelers start theirs Friday.

Steelers players are scheduled to report to training camp at St. Vincent College in Latrobe Thursday. This marks the 51st Steelers training camp in Latrobe.

There are 14 practices open to the public, the first one at 2:55 p.m. Friday and the last on Aug. 17. Also, Steelers training camp will once again feature the Play 60 Fun Zone for children in grades 1-12. The Play 60 Fun Zone will hold 60 minute football-themed activities for children during training camp practices.

On August 9 and 10, the Steelers will conduct a joint practice with the Detroit Lions. The Steelers and Lion are doing this before they meet in the first preseason game of the year at 7 p.m. Aug. 12.

The pursuit to reach the Steelers 9th Super Bowl and claim the 7th Lombardi Trophy in franchise history is now officially underway.
