Thousands without power following storms in Western PA

Thunderstorms carrying heavy winds that quickly moved through Western Pennsylvania Tuesday night, have caused major power outages.

According to Duquesne Light, 9,158 customers from Braddock, Beltzhoover, Braddock Hills, Forest Hills, Ohara Township, Penn Hills, Pittsburgh’s Northside, Robinson Township, and Verona are without power this evening.

At this time, the company is not sure how long it will take to totally restore system power.

A Duquesne Light statement reads, “Duquesne light held crews after their regular shifts ended today in anticipation of the storm and additional crews have been called in tonight to help restore power. Crews will work through the night and for as long as it takes tomorrow until all power has been restored.”

The company advises anyone experiencing a power outage to call 1-888-393-7000 or go to duquesnelight.com.
