Three dead after church minivan crash

Three people, including two teenagers, traveling with a church group from the Champion Christian Center in Canonsburg died in a crash Friday.

WBOY-TV reports that a two-vehicle crash happened in Harrison County near the Jerry Dove Exit (Exit 124) in West Virginia.  According to officials, the driver of a box truck crossed the median and struck the minivan carrying students from the church.

Three people from the church group were pronounced dead.  Five other people were reported injured, three of whom were also in the minivan.

On their Facebook Page, the Champion Christian Center identified the victims as Rhoda Malone, Breanna Africa and Faith Dowler, who belongs to Central Assembly of God in Houston, Pennsylvania.

Emergency crews spent eight hours clearing the scene, reports WBOY-TV. The southbound lanes of I-79 reopened at 2 a.m. Saturday, 911 officials said.
