Tuition increase approved for Pennsylvania state-run colleges

Pennsylvania’s Higher Education Board of Governors has decided to increase the tuition to attend any of the state’s 14 state-run universities.

The board approved a 2 1/2 tuition increase on Thursday.

Tuition for most fulltime in-state residents will cost $3,619 per semester, or $7,238 for a year.  Nonresident tuition will range from $10,858 to $18,096

Officials say the decision is the smallest percentage tuition increase in a decade.
