Two people were killed Sunday morning when they were hit by a passenger train in Ambridge.
According to police, a man and a woman were struck by a train around 12:30 a.m.

The train carrying 215 passengers was stopped for about two hours near Ambridge’s sewage treatment plant on Ohio River Boulevard.
Police said that the train’s conductor told investigators that the victims tried to beat the train across the tracks, reports WPXI. The accident did not happen at a crossing.
Police are investigating the accident.
