Women charged in connection to Carrick stabbing

A Carrick woman was charged in connection with stabbing death of her of her brother Saturday.

Police said they were called to a house on Merrit Avenue in the Pittsburgh neighborhood around 10:30 p.m.  Officers found Machi Brown, 27, unresponsive in the kitchen.

Brown’s sister, Monica Brown, 30, told police her brother and some friends were hanging out and drinking when her brother started to get aggressive and argumentative, reports WPXI.  She also told police he gets that way when he drinks and has a history of abuse towards women.

Monica Brown reportedly confronted her brother about slapping his girlfriend and they started to argue.  She told police he started to assault her and dragged her around the kitchen by her hair.

According to police, Machi Brown allegedly grabbed his sister’s neck and she grabbed a knife in an attempt to scare her brother.  Monica Brown allegedly stabbed him once in the shoulder and once in the chest when he kept attacking her.

Paramedics pronounced Machi Brown deceased at the scene.

Monica Brown was arrested and charged with criminal homicide.

Detectives are currently working to learn the circumstances surrounding the incident.
